Seminars & WorkshopsCrowdsourcing Video Annotations to Enhance the Learning Experience of How-to Videos
AbstractDespite the wide popularity of tutorial videos on the web, learners face difficulty in searching and browsing through a video repository. ToolScape mines work-in-progress images and step-by-step information inside videos to support learning new skills in Photoshop. A user study shows that learners using ToolScape produce higher quality designs in Photoshop and gain higher self-efficacy. One challenge in designing ToolScape is collecting annotations accurately and efficiently. I will present a crowdsourcing workflow for getting annotations, and discuss learner-sourcing, a method to turn learners' activities into usable annotations.
